The crew of the Beowulf each carry a Personal Identifier: a small coin-like object with multiple functions:
- Keyed to the Crew Member on signing on.
- Secure encrypted basic Identity Confirmation.
- Permission links to ship assets.
- Automatic access to Ship’s Locker.
- Body-fence protection vs ship-issued weapons.
- Password-free console access.
